Florida VINE Covers Jefferson Releases
Florida VINE is the state interface for a specific-person custody check and automated notifications. The live agency directory lists the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office as an operational local corrections or sheriff feed. It lists the Florida Department of Corrections separately as an operational state corrections, parole, or probation feed. That split matters because one service can display records supplied by two custodians with different authority.
A Jefferson County Jail result concerns the local booking and JCSO custody event. An FDC result concerns state prison or state supervision. The same person may appear in both at different points. VINELink does not replace JCSO's booking-and-release record, FDC's Release Information Search, or the court docket. Its role is to show the participating agency's status and offer alerts when the selected record is eligible.
The official JCSO resources menu links to VINELink, making it a supported Jefferson County notification route. FDC also uses VINE for movement events. Neither relationship turns VINELink into a full historical Jefferson County release archive. Search one person, read the agency, and verify a reported event at its source.
Search Jefferson County VINELink Records
The live interface begins with a state and search type. Choose Florida, select Search, and then choose An Offender. Full identifiers reduce false matches, but partial searches are supported within the current interface. It accepts at least two characters of a last name for a partial-name search and at least four characters for a partial ID search. More than one result may appear.
- Open Florida VINE and select the offender search rather than a general resource directory.
- Enter the person's full name or full ID when known. Use partial input only when needed.
- Compare identity details and the reporting agency. Do not merge a JCSO jail card with a separate FDC card.
- Open the correct record and read custody status, status reason, status date, location, agency, and any supervision status.
- Save the agency name and identifying data before acting on a custody-change label.

If no result appears, change only what the source supports. Try a correct spelling or fuller identifier, then check the appropriate agency database. Note: A missing VINELink result does not prove that the person was never booked, transferred, or released.
Read Jefferson County Release Status
Florida results can use Out of Custody with a reason such as General Release, Bonded out, Sentence served, Own Recognizance, Case Dismissed, or Probation. FDC-derived records may use Community Supervision or Under Supervision after prison. Other possible supervision labels include Supervision Terminated, Absconded, Out of state, or In County Jail. Read the whole record instead of treating one phrase as the person's complete legal status.

“Out of Custody” means out of the listed agency's custody. It does not always mean free of all government custody or supervision. A person can be out of JCSO custody after a transfer to FDC. Another person can be out of prison while still under FDC community supervision. A local release record naming the destination is the best way to resolve that distinction.
Register Jefferson County Release Alerts
Registration begins only after the correct eligible record is open. Select Register or Get Notifications. The methods offered can include phone, SMS, email, or in-app notice, but availability depends on the record and current interface. Choose a language and at least one method. VINELink recommends two different notification methods when available because contact delivery can fail.
- Confirm the person's identity and reporting agency on the open record.
- Select Register or Get Notifications and choose an offered contact method.
- Enter the phone number, email address, or app destination requested by the interface.
- Create and re-enter the notification PIN when prompted, then submit the registration.
- Keep the Registration Confirmed screen and retain the PIN for later changes or call confirmation.
The PIN used for phone notifications confirms receipt and can be needed to modify the registration. It is not the same as an account verification code sent by email or text. Follow the labels on the live screen. Do not rename an account code as the notification PIN, and do not assume registration succeeded until the confirmation screen appears.
Alerts are event notices, not certified records. A notification can prompt a call to JCSO or a check of FDC's official database. It does not state every hold, transfer destination, or court event. Save enough information to identify which agency produced the alert.
Note: Keep contact details current and preserve the confirmation because a registration request is not proof of a later release.
Jefferson County VINE Agency Split
Jefferson County's distinctive VINE issue is the separate JCSO and FDC agency layer. A county jail record can say Out of Custody while an FDC record says Community Supervision. Both may be accurate because they answer different questions. The first says JCSO no longer holds the person. The second says FDC still has a supervision relationship after custody.
Always compare the agency name before comparing status text. If JCSO reports a transfer, follow the destination into FDC's Population Search for current prison custody or the FDC Release Information Search for a completed or scheduled state event. If FDC reports Under Supervision, use the Supervised Population Search and the listed office for confirmation. County-only probation and county-jail-only outcomes are outside the FDC Offender Network's public scope.

- The person is outside prison but remains under an official state supervision status.

This separate-agency check is required for Jefferson County because the county contains both the JCSO jail and Jefferson Correctional Institution, an FDC state prison. Similar location names do not make the records interchangeable.
The Jefferson County agency split also affects notifications. A registration tied to a JCSO card follows that eligible local record. It should not be assumed to register the same person under FDC. Recheck the agency after a transfer and follow the controls offered on the correct record.
Florida VINE Call and PIN Rules
FDC's Florida VINE service adds state-specific phone behavior. Ordinary automated calls repeat on the published schedule until the correct PIN confirms receipt or the calling period ends. A message left on an answering machine does not confirm the call. Final-release calls can occur outside the ordinary daytime window. It is inaccurate to describe the service as one call at one fixed time.

FDC's Victim Notification Request is a separate route governed by section 944.605. It covers eligible registrants and lists events such as release, transfer, escape, death, and out-to-court movement. The form directs family members or friends who are not victims not to use that specific FDC request. Direct VINELink registration remains separate, and FDC says a direct VINE registration is not shared back to its Victim Services Unit.
Confirm Jefferson County Release Alerts
No automated alert guarantees instant delivery. A failed or missed notice proves nothing. A VINE release event is not a court disposition, and a court release order is not the same as physical departure. Verify a county event with JCSO's booking-and-release or transfer record. Verify a state-prison event with FDC's Release Information Search, Bureau of Admission and Release, or Central Records.
For a federal sentence, use the BOP Inmate Locator and federal court record. A BOP released entry may show a release date, but being outside BOP custody does not rule out another sovereign's custody. For an immigration transfer from Jefferson County Jail, first obtain the JCSO destination, then use the ICE locator for present detention. ICE's tool is not a historical county release archive.
The FDLE Sexual Offender and Predator Registry is also separate. It applies only to people who must register and may show “Released - Subject to Registration.” That label has a specific statutory meaning. The registry is not a general Jefferson County released-inmate database, and no result says nothing about a person who has no registration duty.
Source matching keeps the result clear: JCSO for county jail departure, FDC for state prison or state supervision, the court for judicial action, and BOP or ICE for their own custody systems.
When records disagree, keep the timestamps and agency names separate. Ask the originating office to clarify its own entry instead of choosing the newest screen by guesswork. A later FDC status may follow an earlier JCSO transfer, while a court order can predate the actual jail departure. This sequence often resolves an apparent conflict without changing the meaning of any source.
